About The Blog

Hi I'm Brittany, a lady in her late twenties, living in Alabama, with my geekie husband, Adam. This is my blog, where I blab about all things marriage, travel, weight loss surgery, and everything in between.

I was born in the Midwest, but at the age of 11 my mother's job transferred us to the deep South. I thought my life was over, but it turns out sitting on the porch sipping sweet tea suited me just fine. Then in May 2008, right after my college graduation from Mississippi University for Women, I packed everything I owned into my tiny Honda Civic and drove cross country to move in with my then fiancĂ© in Southern California. I am not a spontaneous person, so that is the craziest thing I’ve ever done. Luckily, he married me and I didn't have to break out the emergency credit card and fly home with my tail behind my legs.

We hung around California for a few years, I earned my masters' degree in Marriage and Family Therapy, and I interned at a Teen Rehab Center, which was an amazing opportunity. We also took several trips to Disneyland, had a few celebrity run-ins, attended some live TV show tapings, and became food truck aficionados, before we decided the Southern California life wasn't for us, and we packed it back up and moved home to Alabama.

Before we even moved, I had found a job as a children's therapist, and Adam's company allowed him to work from home. So he spends most of his days in pajamas, and I spend most of my day chasing children around and being envious of his pajama wearing ways.

After a life time of struggling with my weight & food addiction, I decided to have weight loss surgery (the gastric vertical sleeve) in January 2014. This whole process is new to me, and I'm hoping this is the tool I need to get me where I need to be.

I love Malibu Banana Rum, podcasts, travel, reading, running, scrapbooking, Disney, playing board games, and quiet nights in. I enjoy TV that is really, really awful. But I figure that is OK because I admit that it is really, really awful. I can't get enough of country music (though I like all kinds) and I have a rather unhealthy obsession with all songs by Taylor Swift. And while I'm really not into video games, I'm pretty much obsessed with Zelda (hence we have a dog named, Link).

I don't know what my future holds, but I know I will be documenting it on this ole' blog.
